Whether you're looking for a tasty new design implemented with standards-compliant mark-up and slick usability-enhancing Javascript, a sturdy content-generating back-end complete with advanced admin controls and extensive reporting features, or all of the above and everything between, I'd love to take care of your interweb needs! I'm well-versed in the realms of HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, MySQL, Flash, Actionscript, and Photoshop, and I can probably get along just fine with any other technologies that might need to be integrated in order to make your vision happen. For many projects out there, Firefox is just swell. If you're looking to display a bunch of content in an aesthetically-pleasing fashion, pull some value from a database, and politely ask your users for information about themselves, modern browsers do a fine job. But sometimes, whether for reasons of security, mobility, processing capability, accessibility, responsivity, or any other '-ity' that might come to mind, you just need a little more. For those situations, we can take a look at your specific business needs and come up with a solution that fits like a glove. Sitting, often for hours on end, in front of the NES, SNES, N64, and just about every other classic console likely to be part of a 20-something's childhood, I was frequently asked questions like, "How on earth can you possibly pound at those buttons for as long as you do?!" My response? "Dedication." You see, while there was certainly enjoyment to be had from this beloved pastime of mine, fun was not the primary motivator that pushed me to the deepest depths of Bowser's dungeons time and time again. No, no, no, it was much more than that. It was the notion that every bit of that video game training and education would one day come together to help me to build you the game of your dreams. Perhaps today is that day? Click here to see some of the games I've made in the past or click here to tell me what you have in mind!
Although the majority of my work falls under one of the categories of Sites, Software, or Games, I'm always looking for an interesting change of pace. If you have something in mind that's a little out of the ordinary - an interactive presentation, wedding invitation, or flyer design, for example - run it by me and we'll make it happen! Click here if you'd like to see some of the miscellaneous projects I've worked on in the past or click here to tell me what you have in mind!
Below is some of the work I've completed in the past - Sites, Software, Games, and Other (those unique projects that refuse to fit into any of the other categories). Use the list on the left to filter projects by type, and click on a thumbnail to open its respective project in a new window. TempMusicAir. Inspired by some of 2007's unique music distribution techniques and the upcoming release of our own album, a friend and I got to talking about starting a "record label" based on a set-your-own-price system. Nick Cherry, to be precise, a 23-year-old designer/developer with a jovial disposition and an enthusiasm for aesthetics, geekery, and combining foods, drinks, and spices that traditionally don't mix. I'm a Pennsylvania native, born and raised in the mountainous central regions of the state. It was also there where I received my formal education in IST (details of my academic endeavors can be found here, if you're interested) and spent countless hours tinkering away with tools of the trade and gobbling up as much news from the design and development world as I could digest. Shortly after graduation, I moved myself to Brooklyn, where I've been happily freelancing and doing my part to make the web a happier and more beautiful place ever since. If you'd like to know anything else, I would be glad to elaborate on the life and times of Nick Cherry. Send me an inquisitive message or follow me on one of the sites below!
To let me know, just fill out the form below and press Submit! If you're interested in hiring me for a project, please provide as much information as possible. You can expect a response within two business days, but chances are I'll get back to you much, much sooner. Thanks for the mail, and have a wonderful day!
Well, consider this your lucky day, because I am about to share with you (Yes, you!) the secret behind what is quite possibly the tastiest quiche that's ever met my mouth. I stumbled upon the recipe on one fateful evening in October of 2008, and after experiencing the spinachy, cheesetastic goodness of that quiche, my world has never been quite the same. If you decide to bake one for yourself, let me know how it turns out!
